About this project.
The idea of this project was to make a redesign of a book, selected by myself, which really matches the content. I picked a book called 'Free: the future of a radical price' written by Chris Anderson. In the book Anderson states that 'making money around free is the future of business.' All kinds of examples are shown on how to make money with the concept 'free.'
Obviously the design of the book had to have a connection with money and I came up with the concept receipts. I found a (free!) typeface that looked like a receipt font and the other font I used was also free (open source). The book is printed on paper that feels like paper they use for receipts and the column width is equal to the width of a receipt. Even the content page is a receipt: the total of the chapters equals the book. For the cover I counted the words used most in the book, together they represent the book 'Free.'
I also wanted to print the book as cheap as possible (totally free was not an option unfortunately ;) so I really tried to put as much text as possible on one page. As you can see the columns are situated very close to each other but it is still good readable.
In the middle there is a data section, printed on salmon-coloured paper as a reference to the 'Financial Times.'
